Make Your Own
Dream Catcher

View Your
DreamCatcher
Gift Card
With every purchase of a Dream Catcher you will receive a card with Dream Catcher on the front. And on the inside you will find a Dream Catcher legend.
There is enough room for you to personalize the card on the inside if you are giving your Dream Catcher as a gift. The card is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" which is about the size of a post card.

  Making Your Own Dream Catcher

Materials

One - 3, 5, 7, or 10 inch Ring.

About 2 yd's Suede or Leather Lace 1/8''.

3 to 4 yd's Waxed Nylon String.

Assorted Pony Beads (Choose any color you like or mix-n-match).

Acrylic Paint, I use "Apple Barrel" brand but, any will do. (Again any color you like will do fine).

Craft Feathers (Same here... Choose any color you like or mix-n-match).

White Crafting Tape (Enough to wrap around the entire ring).

Tools

Scissors, Small Paint Brush, A little Glue, and Most important... Plenty of Patients and Time.

Step Number "1"

Begin by wrapping the Ring with the white crafting tape. Cover it so that no area of the metal ring is showing (You can use a little glue at the beginning and the end or where ever it's needed). Once You've covered the ring completely, begin painting the ring with the acrylic paint. Hang and let dry overnight.

Step Number "2"

To begin making the Dream Catcher "Webbing", tie one end of the waxed nylon string to the circle you formed in step one. Then tie "Hitch Knots" around the ring, spacing them approximately 1-2 inches apart depending upon the size of the Ring (Larger Rings will have greater spacing between them). Keep the string taught when going from one knot to the next and be very careful not to distort the shape. See the diagram to the right.

Step Number "3"

To begin the next row of the webbing, begin tying "Hitch Knots" in the center of the string already attached. Continue tying these hitches in the same way until the opening in the middle is the desired size (For a little decorative styling, you can place a few colorful beads here-and-there during you're webbing process). To end the webbing, tie a double knot in the string and cut off any of the excess. See diagram to the left.

Step Number "4"

To decorate the dream catcher you'll need about 2 feet of Suede or Leather Lace for attaching your beads and feathers. Cut the Suede or Leather into 4 equal pieces and thread the beads and then tie/glue the feathers to the ends. Tie these lacings to the bottom and sides of the Dream Catcher. Be sure to attach a hanging piece of the Suede or Leather Lace at the very top for hanging your Dream Catcher.

Step Number "5"

Hang over your favorite sleep or napping place and have "Sweet Dreams"!

 Have fun and enjoy,
